Hot Fuzz

What to Know

Critics Consensus

The brilliant minds behind Shaun of the Dead successfully take a shot at the buddy cop genre with Hot Fuzz. The result is a bitingly satiric and hugely entertaining parody.

Hot Fuzz | Rotten Tomatoes (1) David Fear Blender What makes Wright & Co.’s buddy-cop goof so spot-on is that, like their previous take on splatter flicks, the pair share an affection for -- and thorough knowledge of -- cineplex cheese with their film-geek fan base. And quite frankly, it’s greatly entertaining in both the comedic and action realms, far surpassing its referenced sources. Rated: 4/4 Mar 8, 2024 Full Review Hot Fuzz | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... the madcap shoot-outs that erupt in the cute little country village... is both a surreal parody of urban action spectacle and seventies TV cop clichés and a marvelous bit of comic action in its own right. Apr 14, 2023 Full Review Hot Fuzz | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Matt Brunson Film Frenzy An amusing comedy that also manages to evoke memories of The Wicker Man, Plague of the Zombies, and other spooky yarns centering on eccentric villagers inhabiting the less-traveled paths of the British Isles. eric g Had a blast watching this in theaters. Crowd was awesome. The only reason I can't go 5 is because I find the last act a little wonky and long-winded. Other than that, damn near perfect dark comedy Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Prabudhjeet A Don't read any reviewDon't watch any trailerDon't read about the movieJUST GO AND WATCH THIS MASTERPIECE Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/22/24 Full Review Maximilian B My favourite movie of the cornetto trilogy and my one of my favourite comedy movies! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Samuel S I wasn't sold completely on the film but the ending was quite fun and clever so it stuck the landing. A lot of the humor was not landing with me. It is a fun story with some fun editing and some clever bits. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review Augustine J This movie is undeniably a great film. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have some of the best on screen chemistry of any buddy cop paring. Edgar Wright's signature style is on full display in this movie and it's on point. The humor is great and thoroughly British Sometimes there are gags in this movie that you don't get until the fifth or even sixth viewing. That helps to make it the perfect rewatch movie. If you haven't seen this movie. Shame. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/09/24 Full Review Dan R Three years after 'Shaun of the Dead', came the second part of the 'Cornetto Trilogy' with 'Hot Fuzz'.SYNOPSIS: 'A skilled London police officer, after irritating superiors with his embarrassing effectiveness, is transferred to a village where the easygoing officers object to his fervor for regulations, as a string of grisly murders strikes the town.'With Wright and Peg back at the writing helm of the story, and Nick Frost returning to reform that exceptional duo with Pegg, this film is both entertaining and hilarious. It's a madcap cop drama which is parody of classic British police dramas. It's full of clichés, but clichés we'll love and find entertaining. It's the best! The characters are brilliant, as are the cast playing them. You just have to love all of them, they just make you laugh and smile, even the villains. Many of these actors have gone onto bigger things, including Oscar wins. There are so many Easter eggs within this film it's great fun and I'll never get bored of this film.An absolute joy of a film. Full of laughs.9/10 Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews
