Position Summary:
Provides technical assistance in the preparation of teaching materials to the instructor and students in support of the instructional classes in the laboratory.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Dispenses biohazardous materials by autoclaving and bagging for disposal.
- Washes and sterilizes glassware, pipets, instruments and tips. Soaks glassware and instruments in dichromate acid to remove stubborn stains
- Collects lab coats daily for laundry, completes laundry slips with the number of submitted coats, and returns the lab coats to their proper labs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
None.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
One year of experience with laboratory and/or scientific procedures.
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
Security Sensitive:
This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
