Question: Who gets to go to the Grammys besides musicians, celebrities, and the creative teams?Answer: Captioners!!Did you know that court reporters also do captioning work that can land them a job at the Grammys?!! This blew my mind. So cool, right?!!In the latest podcast episode of “Women with Cool Jobs,” a chat with Karen Clinco Santucci, a veteran court reporter who is now the Director of the Court Reporting Program at @plazacollege in Forest Hills, New York about how Court reporters play an essential and required role in judicial proceedings. Plus, they even do captioning work when requested in relation to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA.) It’s a cool way to get into the courtroom without being a lawyer or judge. Or, you can get into captioning work and help people in college, at business meetings, or anyone that requests to have a court reporter to take down the meeting, lesson, or event on the steno machine such as at the Grammys. On the podcast, it was discussed how diverse and flexible this career path is (so it's awesome for moms looking for jobs with flexible schedules) and how they need more people now.Demand is high, and people just don't know about this job and how many opportunities exist.Julie B. says, "This is one of those jobs I just loved hearing about, as it’s exactly why I do this podcast. It shows the diversity of opportunities out there for women."🎙️“Women with Cool Jobs” podcast🔗 www.womenwithcooljobs.com#CRCW2024#SpreadStenoStories#SpreadSteno#ModernStenoMovement#NCRAofficial#courtreporter#stenolife#podcast#Grammys

"Don't chase women, chase the dream‼️‼️👀 " I know you must have heard this somewhere.Maybe a podcast or some gurus advising you to avoid dating or engaging with females when you are still building your dreams…… well, not entirely correct …….while getting laid is just a bonus….Dating and interacting with women when done in the right way can develop your communication skills which is actually the backbone of any successful business.Back in the day, I could talk my way out of a potential bar brawl or out of any tensed situation simply because I had mastered the art of communication, through cold approaching women at the bar or other public places in my early 20s.Effective communication is the backbone of any successful business because you would have to use different tricks and strategies to persuade your prospects to see reasons why they purchase whatever you are offering them. So, the next time you hear some guru telling you to stop dating or engaging with women just because you are haven't made any money yet ……….You should politely decline ...cause this is not a harmful practice if done with caution..BEST REGARDSTEKZ COPYS ✅

This podcast was not an easy conversation to have. But I’m honored and appreciative to have an opportunity to share my perspective. This story serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in every aspect of our lives, especially education. It’s about ensuring that every individual feels seen, heard, and valued for who they are. It’s about creating environments where discussions about race and diversity are not just welcomed but encouraged, fostering a culture of understanding and empathy from a young age.As professionals, we have the power to influence change within our spheres. By championing DEI initiatives, we can help pave the way for a more inclusive future, where no one has to feel isolated or misunderstood because of their background. Let’s commit to being part of the solution, promoting diversity and inclusion not just as concepts, but as core values that enrich our communities and workplaces. How are you showing up each day? Are you taking the bold steps to include someone who may not look like you or sound like you into the conversation? Are you willing to sponsor and adocate for someone who may be different from you?#DEI #DiversityAndInclusion #Education #ChangeMakers #inclusivity #healthequity #healthandwellbeing #neurodiversityinclusion

I've been listening to a lot of the Lenny's Newsletter podcast lately. All of the episodes are amazing–but a recent one with Ami Vora, CPO at Faire, is a must-listen for any woman working in the tech industry.Near the end of the interview (around 51 minutes), Lenny asks Ami about her experience as a woman working in tech–she shares her take on how women get very different styles of feedback than men:“To this day, I get feedback that is about walking a very narrow tightrope where not only do you have to change a bunch of things and do a bunch of things that are important, you have to make people feel a certain way about how you do them and the ways that they want you to make you feel are diametrically opposite.”Other points she highlights:🎧 Women get more contradictory feedback (“be more directive so that way everyone knows your thing” but also, “be less directive so people can come to their own conclusions” or “move faster because there's always more you can do” but also, “move less fast because otherwise you're going to end up steamrolling people”🎧 Women get more personal feedback (backed by research) that is less about the content of their role and more about their style.🎧 Women get more "weird advice" like, “you need to find a mentor and you need to find a sponsor”. That becomes just another set of hoops that women have to jump through, we don’t tell other parts of the population to jump through. It becomes yet another burden women have to take on in their careers. All of this felt so reflective of my own experiences with feedback, and so much of what I hear from other women working in the tech industry. It was extremely validating, while also being extremely frustrating that women still have to deal with blatantly different treatment in professional settings 🤬 Here is Ami’s advice on how she has dealt with this in her career:💡 Just because you’re getting feedback, doesn't mean you immediately need to respond to all of it (unless you’re in a low-trust work environment!)💡 Look for themes and patterns and filter out unhelpful feedback, then decide if any of it is feedback you want to take action on.💡 It’s okay to say “This is who I am and I understand the trade-offs, I'm going to do a better job of giving people context on the decisions I'm making and why I'm choosing these trade-offs. But actually this is part of how I want to operate and I'm going to keep on operating.”I highly suggest giving the whole episode a listen (link in comments)–Ami is an amazing role model for women aspiring to leadership roles in tech. Thanks, Lenny and Ami for the inspiring episode 🙏

📣 Newsflash: People are potential to be unlocked, not problems to be fixed.Unhelpful feedback as described here struck a chord, bringing back memories from my graduate school years...🤷🏻♀️ In a theory and methods course, a TA once told me to stop asking clarifying questions because it made others uncomfortable. I was encouraged to accept ideas at face value rather than digging into context and fostering curiosity. The irony? This was in a course designed to develop critical thinking and methodological rigor.⏩ That experience was one of the first of many that eventually led to my decision to withdraw from UT and pursue a different degree and career path. Now, so much of what I do—and I do well, if I do say so myself!—is asking questions to better understand global team dynamics. Time and again, my experiences have validated the power of leveraging diversity to build high-impact, sustainable companies and fully engaged individuals.👩🏻🏫 The lesson here? If you want innovation and growth, embrace the curiosity, value diverse approaches, and focus on the strengths and outcomes.Imagine a workplace where we focus on unlocking the potential in each individual, recognizing their unique contributions, and valuing the impact of their work. When we are willing to shift our own focus, we cultivate an environment where everyone can thrive. ✨ #LearningAndDevelopment #InclusionMatters #FutureOfTeam #PeopleExperience

Being a woman is a challenging journey. For many, it involves juggling familial responsibilities and pursuing personal and professional goals. It's not uncommon to feel like opportunities have passed you by, especially when life takes unexpected turns. One LinkedIn user shared their experience of getting married and finishing their graduation before turning down a job opportunity for personal reasons. Now, they find themselves struggling to find a job they're fit for. It's a reminder that women need change. Let's continue to support and advocate for equal opportunities for all. #linkedinforcreators#contentwriting#writing#linkedin
